Brussels Airport Company NV/SA is the owner and operator of Brussels Airport. The company operating the airport is known as "The Brussels Airport Company N.V./S.A.;" before 19 October 2006, the name was BIAC (Brussels International Airport Company). The company was created by Belgian law through a merger of BATC (Bruxelles Air Traffic Control) with the ground operations departments of the RLW/RVA. In 2006, the company was merged with Sabena and SN Brussels Airlines, and Brussels Airlines S.A. became the flag carrier of Belgium. It is headquartered in Brussels Airport, Belgium, and is a member of the Star Alliance. The company is currently owned by the Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan (39%), Macquarie Group (Macquarie European Infrastructure Fund I and Macquarie European Infrastructure Fund III) (36%), and the Belgian State (25.
